Default ar 15 scope nount question

Decided to go with a Colt for my first AR. I know nothing about these guns, so bear with me. I would like to put either a low power scope or a red dot on it. What kind of mount do I need? It says "match target" on the side of the magazine tower, and HBAR on the barrel. The handle appears to be integrated in the upper, has a slight "slope" on it and one hole down in the groove, about midway between front and back of the handle. I don't mind the scope being a bit high as I checked it and it will be ok for me.

Ideally one would mount a scope on the railed upper with a Picatinny rail mount. However with a carry handle your options will tend to be limited to scopes that have compatable carry handle mounts, or a new upper and a picatinny rail mount.

ahhh neat, didn't realize anyone made anything like that. However if you;re gonna mount a scope like that I'd recommend taking along a pillow or couch cushion to tape to your stock *LMAO*

While it is not ideal, it does mount a scope to the gun. Cross your fingers and hope there is enough elevation adjustment.

A cantilever handle mount is also a option, if you are going with a red dot. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=525242
