I might do some research into it. Might be worth my while.

As one of those NY-Asshat's, i'm a little confused as to the resentment towards us. Isn't it in all of our interests to have non-gun owners at least have some exposure and experience with firearms? I'm new to firearms, but I maintain a healthy respect for them (Firearms) and the safety of others (people). I think it also opens up peoples minds to firearms and at least gives them an idea that guns aren't super evil come voting time. Plus, we're really limited on options in NY/NJ. There's only a few ranges and some are deathtraps...
I've been shooting relatively frequently at Sunset Hill for a few months now and out of convenience, i've learned to avoid the crowds, but i've never seen any overly unsafe situations come along. The RO's have been very helpful and polite to me and the people i've brought with me (I'm not sure how they are on the other end, as I bring my own guns, but from my observations, it's pretty much the same on both ends, albeit a shorter leash). The first time I was there, I had brought in a brand new AR that I had purchased that day. One of the guys went out of his way to show me how to clean and lube it, after I was done shooting for the day. (I already knew, but it was nice that he went that extra mile- and it doesn't hurt to see a more experienced person do it). I like Sunset Hill because; 1. the people are friendly and helpful. 2. it's located conveniently for me. 3. i'm left alone, for the most part. 4. their ammo prices (if you bring your own guns) are relatively reasonable. 5. The people don't make me feel like an idiot because i'm new to firearms. (I had an embarrassing session a few weeks back trying to zero my new eotech...) The RSO just gave me friendly tips, but for the most part let me alone. I'm sure if I had asked, he would've offered help sooner. He didn't disparage me or anything like that (maybe he called me a dumbass when I wasn't around, but ignorance is blss). I dislike Sunset Hill because; 1. it's crowded on weekends. 2. exorbitant prices on ammo, if you want to use their guns. 3. suicidal deer. 4. crude targets. 5. lack of rapid fire. 6. lack of tactical shooting options. 7. traffic!!! /end wall of text. I actually saw a few of those people, the last time I was there (they weren't doing anything dangerous, just acting like 'gangtas' and what not. I was sort of embarrassed until I left and saw that they were from Philly. |

They have come here to "get away" but they have brought it all with them. They don't go back during the weeks anymore, they've infested our streets, our schools, our F-ING SHOOTING RANGES (sorry didn't mean to get emotional) with their yo bro crap. If I wanted to hear "yo bro" I'd drive my ass to NY to watch all the half covered asses walking around the city. "They" have ruined this area forever, and sadly admitting that you are from one of "those" areas leaves you open for a thrashing. From now on I'm skipping a generation. My grandmother was born around Phillie (don't know exactly where thanks to the 1902 fire) and my Grandfather was born in Carlisle (again, can't prove it because of the stupid fire). What idiot keeps ALL the records in one building let alone one room, moron.

I'm pretty sure I still have family living around Carlisle. My great-grandparents where killed around 1898 and the kids where scattered around to relatives. My grandfather ended up in Philadelphia with a Aunt, but I've been told that the name Hartz is still all over Carlisle.

I myself am one of those embarrased NJ people, only I didn't come from an area of the cities. I came from right across the deleware river, where it used to be all farm land. People were nice, respectable, and it was all I knew from growing up there as I didn't travel to other areas. UNTIL...... All the New York people moved in that area and they had most of the farms closed down. I moved to PA to get away from it only to run into what seems to be way worse than where I came from.
Every day I curse out the New Yorkers. Thier attitudes make me sick to my stomach. The way they drive, flipping over thier vehicles on a nice sunny day for no reason, almost killing me and my wife on our motorcycle everyday. The gangs, ghetto people etc.... Just depise it all to the point I'm becoming a very grumpy person when in fact I was always relaxed and friendly. BUT THEN.......... I come across a New Yorker that has me stumped because, they are friendly, respectful and only want what we want and live by it and they act embarrased to be concidered one at times makes me feel really bad for the way I think. Until I see the next gangster and them I'm pissed all over again. Oh, and it's not just NY, I have now realized how rediculous NJ has become as well. So, it does seem there are a few good apples in there, and it's hard not to come across hard on them before we know them. As far as that reload story goes at Sunset, they showed me the picture of the gun. Yup it was blown up. Only because the dumbass loaded it way to hot for a gun not rated for it. It's like shooting .357 ammo in a.38. But I don't think it's fair that one dumbass ruins it for the rest.
