Here we go again:

Make absolutely certain you know all the rules and obey them to the letter, literally. The GCOs have been observed citing for every fathomable reason.

See the PA Game Commission website. Here are the rules posted at SGL43:

Yes PA Rifleman, thank you for the rules. Again I have decided to go with a private range since they have less restrictive rules. However I have been searching and only found one rifle range so far, the rest of the places I have discovered have been indoor/pistol clubs. So please if anyone can give some names of private rifle ranges in the Poconos area that charge reasonable amounts for the use of their facilities please post it here. I have tried searching on my own but I haven't had much luck yet.

Sorry, had to do it As one of the members here has stated, see if you can find a place in the mountains or in the woods where not many people go, or ask someone if you can use their land for a few hours for one or two weekends close by per month. If not, see about joining a fish and game club. Sometimes these places have ranges that are not used, and don't give a damn what you bring to shoot. Others, well....you need to feel around a bit and find out how they feel about it.

Oh and mumit, did you ACTUALLY go into Centralia, or was it outside of Ashland or what not? I have seen LOTS of land around there that would be perfect for unknow distance long range shooting. I have been looking for a place like that for a while now.

Sunset Hill costs $35 the first time you go. That covers the cost of 1 year membership, a safety briefing, and the range fee. Any time you go after tha it's $10 for the day.

Not really sure, but right around now is normally when most ranges get really busy because of rifle hunters hitting the benches... Also a lot of private ranges require you to go to a meeting to become members, keep this in mind when trying to get in at a club

Great thanks Viprdude.

For now I am going to try out the Sunset Hill shooting range. Here are the questions I asked:

Q: If you bring your own weapon how much does it cost to use the facilities?
A: $35 the first time for safety training, and then $10 every time afterwards. You get some kind of card so you don't have to take the training a second time. The $10 per visit is good for the whole day not just an hour.

Q: Can you load more than three rounds at once?
A: Yes, as long as you don't fire the gun rapidly.

Q: Can you use your own targets?
A: Yes.

Right now this seems like the ideal range for my needs. I will check it out on Friday and post a report. Thanks to everyone that helped me.

Not a problem! I hope it helped you out and that the new range works out for you!
