I agree, CP is a great range with some really great staff...I have shot all around PA and they have one of the nicest, cleanest, friendliest ranges...

The selection at the shop is quite nice as well. Two days ago I walked in to pick up one of my revolvers after John Robinson was done with it and shazaam, I was driving home with a new Smith and Wesson 686 SSR... woohoo

Thinking of taking my younger brother over there to shoot for the first time. (His). Did someone say they have inexpensive 9MM ammo there? Something Like a "house brand" which I assume means reloads?

Classic sells American Eagle 9mm, and the price is pretty reasonable. Give them a call and see what the prices are. But, I've always found them cheaper than any of the big online venues for the same ammo (CTD, Ammoman, etc), if that gives you an idea.

Most important, a big thanks,to my friend 1blindref as I am rusty and wanted him to be there to ensure my sons saftey and good time. Reps on the way.
Thanks,
BW

PS The boy loved it, acted mature & was a good shot!
CP is also a favorite indoor range for me, been going there 15 years now. It's also the place my youngest daughter fired her first time when she was 10, first place she fired her brand new never fired shotgun and where she and last spring, at 11y.o. was not only the youngest member of her gun safety class, the best shot as well. Yeah, Classic holds a special place for me.

Kudos to you WB for taking your son shooting and to you Ref for helping them out.

I'd love to go to CP for some shooting.

Given I live in the city proper, my close by options look like CP, Targetmaster, Firing Lane, and SPAG.

One thing that is throwing me for a loop is that CP says "Please note. Our rental policy only allows us to rent to two or more people or individuals that have their own firearms with them."

That means that I cannot rent there without a buddy? That's a major bummer. Any thoughts?

Also, it will be my first time shooting in a long while. It almost seems beneficial to take a class, but CP seems to offer them infrequently, and not when I've been around to attend.

Anyone have any thoughts?

The rental restriction is meant to stop people from renting a gun and ventilating their skull. It's not likely someone would invite a friend to watch them kill themselves.

In my experience, here's how the rule parses: "Our rental policy only allows us to rent to groups of two or more people. However, if you have your own gun with you, we'll rent to you individually."

I'd check back with CP about their schedule. Their class schedule, like most places, tends to fill out in the fall/winter months. Summers in general tend to be lean for training because potential students are traveling, on vacation, etc.

Thank you for the tips.

The clause now makes perfect sense when you put it in context of "skull ventilation". I suppose then it's understandable, just a bummer. Is there no way for me to get to a range individually? Being the poor youngster that I am, I plan to wait until 21, for a pistol.

As for the classes, I'm in the reverse scenario, I'm away at school, in a different state. There are no ranges accessible to me here without a car.

Plus my job at home... I work nights! So much for classes!

Or a strategically placed semi-colon....
