A stupid question was asked, a sarcastic response was given. And the problem is?

It's no worse than what I went through at a recent borough council meeting: Idiot asked, "Is that thing loaded?" I replied, "Wouldn't be any good if it wasn't."

Don't sweat it man, you did okay, no one can be perfect, and I don't really think you did anything wrong anyway. You have to trust your instincts, you can't just put them aside for the sake of being an ambassador of anything.

I think you di ok.
We all "profile" people, everyday, each one of us does it. Instinctively, unconsciously, we DO IT. Your 'profile readout' of this guy gave you the 'best , safe, response' it could for this encounter. I'm sure you have left out several important factors from this encounter. Factors that you probably didn't even notice, consciously. But, if it were replayed from several different angles you would see these 'tid-bits' and more fully understand your own response. The human brain is a wonderful thing, designed by the Almighty to protect us from danger. In this respect it is rarely wrong. It IS often disregarded and ignored, but rarely wrong!
Consciously, we also 'weed out' undesirables from our lives. I find that I almost instantly dismiss and disengage from individuals the moment they use certain words: PO-PO(when speaking about Law Enforcement) , Fo-shizzle, fo-snizzle, whatever.... and the list goes on. The list of 'gangsta' type behaviors that automatically have me "mentally planning the quickest route to your demise" is long. By that I mean, if you display that certain 'street or gangsta' type behavior in front of me, or God forbid, my family while I am present, I take it as an imminent threat. When I percieve an imminent threat, several things occur. I start planning and executing a hasty exit, and I start covering my exit so that I can egress my personnel (family, friends) as safely as possible. This may or may not be evident to the casual observer. It may be as simple as me telling my wife I have just been hit by a looming case of diarhea, or it could involve me shoving her to the door while drawing and disengaging the safety on my weapon. For certain, once I decide to un-ass the area, anybody who gets in the way is going to remember that, they were, at least, treated disrespectfully and possibly roughly, and at the other end of the scale, they may not even be able to remember what happened.
My point is , your mind made a snap eval of the situation and individuals and gave you a 'best response' suggestion. I've found it is always best to trust that suggestion. You did good!
Somebody else also nailed it by insinuating this individual might not be the kind of person the rest of us even want to have a firearm. Inner-city breeding has made some incredibly backwards slides in the last few years.

You're a good ambassador in support of the OC movement and you do plenty to promote the cause. A misstep once in a while is to be expected in any endeavor.

I wouldn't take it too hard. No one can be expected to be on their "A" game all the time. Learn from it. If a similar circumstance should arise in the future, I'm sure it'll go better. Who knows, you might actually end up being the only positive male role model the little turd ever had. Stranger things have happened.

Soooo, you're fucking human after all , welcome to reality my friend, not everything is as black & white as we'd like to think, now is it? Life is full of grey area, you found some of it. Everyone got to go home without any extra holes, nothing wrong with that.
