Default Re: Went to Targetmaster Today

Given where I live, the "public" indoor ranges close by me are French Creek Outfitters and Targetmaster.

Given that French Creek is a LOUD, poorly ventilated range (at least compared to Targetmaster and some priviate ranges I've been at), I prefer Targetmaster.

Also, Targetmaster will let me shoot from a holster on a slow evening... French Creek laughed at me when I asked.

I admit that Targetmaster's Customer Service can be lacking... part of that is that they seem to not have enough staffing during busy periods and there is a wait for help.

I will also say that I'm not really comfortable with some of the folks who come in to "play around"... this type of crowd seems to be in during the weekend afternoons... so I try to avoid weekends... they are too crowded anyway.

I've been around there enough over the last year, and I know some of the staff. I've never seen any of the employees being rude to a customer.

In short.... I'm relativly happy with Targetmaster and will continue to shoot there until I find someplace better closer to home.

I have been a regular customer of Targetmaster, Chadds Ford, for the past 10 years. The reason...they are a professional well run operation from the top down. The staff are quite knowledgeable, polite and helpful. There are no dumb questions with these folks at least in the way they respond to their customers. Targetmaster also has the product...I have seen firearms both new and pre-owned at this shop that I have not been able to find elsewhere. They provide a full range of product, training and gunsmithing services; this is really a one stop gun shop for those of us who have the "bug". I am a Colt afficianado and Targetmaster is able to keep Colt's products in stock where other shops don't. They also orchestrate a yearly "Smith & Wesson Days" event in which reduced prices for many of the latest models lead to customers waiting in line at store opening...a unique experiance that I look forward to every year. Of course Targetmaster will order that item you seek just in case it is not in stock. I have priced guns at other shops for curiosity and I find that Targetmaster in many cases will meet or beat the completion. As a former Corporate Ethics Officer/Investigator, I have observed on more than one occasion that Targetmaster Sales Staff will turn down a gun sale that "doesn't seem right" such as a possible attempt at a straw purchase by the buyer. It is refreshing but not surprising as the folks at Targetmaster all present themselves as "straight shooters" with the public. I look forward to many more years worth of visits to this "front cabin" operation...there are a few more shooting irons on my list of "must haves"...

I have avoided Targetmaster for the past 10 years. The reason... they are a completely unprofessional bunch of giant gaping assholes who excel only in assholery. They won't order you a gun they don't have in stock by the way, and they will make you feel like an asshole for asking about it. Oh, yeah they stole from another member of this forum. And I'm supposed to believe you came here and your first post is just a love letter to Targetmaster? BULLSHIT.

I recognize who the poster is, I believe.

He's a stand up, trustworthy gentleman. One of the most pleasant customers I had the pleasure of dealing with during my time there.

However Granuale, your rant full of hot-air, isn't. Won't order you a gun in? That's kind of funny...considering that they do it everyday. Make you feel like an idiot when you ask? That's funny, I usually just give people a price and a ballpark ETA...didn't know that was so offensive.

You're loud profane rant is hardly convincing, when you have actual long time customers here, providing evidence to the contrary.

What brought you over here to PAFOA Mr. Adams? Good to know there is another polite, knowledgeable gun owner over here now. I hope you don't let one or two loudmouths prevent you from sharing what you've learned. I know I learned more than a few things from you as I showed you something in the cases, and you told me a lot more about it than I would have known otherwise.

Have a good one!

For the record, I've ordered a couple of guns from Targetmaster.

Target master told me

1. I couldn't carry in there
2. I couldn't shoot wwb (come to find out its only vp) and blazer (come to find out its only non-brass).

That's what he said..

I will not support an anti-gun gun shop.

They are off my list and they were jerky to me.

Any place that says no gang colors is enough for me to turn around an go home.

There are plenty of people that hate this place because of their attitude and policies.

I think he meant gang clothing not colors, in which case I am in favor of that rule. I want to shoot in a safe environment. No need for that nonsense.

The ammo restrictions are annoying but not uncommon from what I've heard.
