Its a different guy now, Dave Maier, but he was quick to respond with my initial email inquiries. It's like others have already posted. You attend the New Member meeting, pay and that is pretty much it. I happen to know a member and I put his name on the form, but that didnt seem to affect anything. I just joined tonight and saw a fellow PAFOA'er too, who I met recently selling an item in the classifieds.

The meeting was low - key, informative and I hope to be visiting the ranges soon and often.

Yes, Bob has since stepped down. Glad to hear you are now a member. You will like the place. Everyone I've met and or talked to while there has been decent. I seriously doubt you will run into any boneheads, like those who frequent french creek.....

BTw - I'd suggest checking their website from time to time before you go there, as they have alot of events, etc that might close a range. Also, the upper range is closed on certain Saturdays and Sundays during the year as well, so you will want to know which days before you head out. Its all posted on their site for easy reference.

I have belonged to Atglen for a good many years. Don't get out to shoot as often as I like, but it is a real nice club. Great range, good people running the show. Bob was a great guy, and often you would see him at the range during the day just hanging out and shaking hands. Initiation meeting is no big deal, I took a friend a couple of years ago and it was painless.

I was just on their website and I'm thinking about joining. It's only a 5 minute drive from my house (Gap, PA) so it'll be easy on gas. Their website said the 2009 season was closed. Does this mean I have to wait until January 2010 to join?

Can me and my father take you up on this offer? Would we need to pay any fees to check the place out? Also, any chance we could use the range as your guest? I'm pickin' up my new Springfield XD Sub-Compact 9mm tomorrow (14th) and tryin' to find a place to put some rounds through it. I'd give you a 50 round box to put through it yourself as a "thank you".

I'm more than willing to take you as a guest and yes you can bring your Springfield XD Sub-Compact 9mm. Not sure about your Father, think I am limited to one guest but I'll check the rule book when I get home this evening

IIRC you're allowed one shooting guest and one nonshooting guest.

You're allowed one guest. There is no stipulation between shooter and non-shooter guests.

The best thing to do if multiple people want to see the club is show up on a day that's open to the public. Then meet up with a member who can show you around.
