Well I can relate because I am left handed. I have not found that to be a disadvantage with the mini-14. You can practice charging the action with your off hand and snapping back into the firing position. Not too hard. If you can find one at a decent price, pick it up.

Ram-Line used to make 30 rnd "Combo Mags" taht were claimed to work in both Mini's and AR's.
I had six of them and they worked just fine in my series 181 Mini, they were not so great in either or my ARs at the time, a Colt and Oly arms.
I have seen them at shows for around $25 new, at the last G.Burg show a guy had three or four used ones on his table for $15 each.
I wouldn't make it a mission to find some, but it might be worth keeping an eye out for any lying on tables at the shows.

Thanks, that is actually the first time I have heard about these. I have had some bad experiences with Ramline in the past with my 10/22, but if I see one somewhere I may pick it up. Thanks for the post!

Bravo!
I wouldn't worry yourself over the AR market, everyone rushed out to buy one and now they all want the next greatest thing on the market. You have a fine weapon and a better mindset. Enjoy years of flawless case ejection.

i've had the first mini 14 as long as i've owned guns. I don't think i'll ever sell it. as with any gun it will have some shortcomings but as a gun that goes bange every time you can bet it will. i've owned a few since then that i've either sold or traded. i even own a mini 30 in stainless too.

Thank you! I have owned this rifle for some time now, and have never had a problem with it other than I couldn't find a great use for it. Figured I might as well work on a firearm I know Im not going to have issues with. Thanks again!

I'll have to look into those as well. Thanks for letting me know. I would probably only purchase one, since I have had such bad luck with aftermarket mags for this firearms. Thanks for posting.

I too am a big fan of the mini-14. I think it is a great little platform. I don't think I would ever sell it. Not picky on ammunition, and as reliable as the sunrise. Thanks!
