You just can't go on school property.
Don't take my word for it though. Its your life and your responsibility to make sure on your own. Sorry I can't point you to case law. Maybe someone else can.
By way of clarification - the only safe area within the 1000' exclusion zone is "on private property not part of school grounds". Thus if you live within 1000' of school 'X' then once you any enter public property within 1000' of that same school you will need one of the other exemptions. As others have pointed out, an LTCF/CCW from the same state hosting the school is one of those exemptions. Another common exemption is "locked and unloaded".

Then how are you supposed to get the gun home from the gun shop or to the range?

Thank you. Guess that didn't register the first time around.

i wish it was possible they are still a bit to young, and the layout of the school would mean a long walk that we are not comfy allowing them to do just yet.
Thanks for the answers!
Re: READ FIRST: Where you CAN and CANNOT Carry weapons in the State of Pennsylvania
Now does that mean for the entire property? For instance, casinos. They say you can't enter a casino with a firearm. So can I leave it locked in my truck, in the parking garage?

Pa Code requires the casino licensee to prohibit firearms in the 'licensed facility' - that does not include the garages. HOWEVER, that does not prevent the licensee from posting any or all other areas in which they have 'possessory control'.
If the garage is not a posted area then vehicular storage would be allowable.

I think the casino rule is absolulely ridiculous. Now I've never walked in or out with any considerable amounts of cash; in fact, more often than not I walk out with less than I walked in with. Are they willing to provide an armed escort to and from your car? I can't see any more time that I would rather have my firearm on me than if I had to walk thru a parking garage after just hitting a couple thousand dollars.

And that is the reason I have never gone to a casino. If I was a robber, I would be looking for people going in to the casino instead of coming out. That's when people have the most money usually.

Never saw any metal detectors or signs at Mohegan Sun. Didn't have an issue CC there either. Out of sight, out of mind.
