Re: Before and After - How has PAFOA Changed YOU?
Prior to PAfoa, I was ignorant to the state of .gov overreach that continues seemingly unabated. I was your classic fudd and only focused on hunting laws and arms. As my eyes have been opened by the caring, wise members here, I have become much more politically aware and active. I look forward to being mentored by the members here, meeting more of you and become an integral part of the faction that works to preserve our God given rights, so eloquently enumerated by our founding fathers.
The downside is that the first thing I check every morning is the classified ads, that costs money.

I've enjoyed the banter....especially the humor.....Oh, and I now have a terrible fear of basements...thanks, Ungawa!!!!
Re: Before and After - How has PAFOA Changed YOU?
Before PAFOA I knew open carry was legal.
After PAFOA, I knew that OCing a rifle was legal even under a state of emergency.
Then I wasn't so sure. LOL
(actually, in all the years I've been here, I've NEVER heard anyone question the legality of OCing a rifle under SOE with a LTCF?
Re: Before and After - How has PAFOA Changed YOU?
Before joining I was semi clueless about the legalities of carrying in PA and due to joining got to enjoy a year or two of legal carrying in PA while visiting.
Happy to have joined after all my searches for PA legal info always ended up on here anyway.

I know I will regret this in the morning....
You will be naming it, what, exactly?

it has made me a bitter old man....verses the bitter, middle aged man I was when I found the place.
Re: Before and After - How has PAFOA Changed YOU?
Wowser, in almost every way I am richer for the interactions here in the last 10 years.
My firearms safety awareness is much more robust and nuanced.
My political awareness is FAR more enlightened.
I now almost instantly recognize political bull shit from the leftists.
I'm a better shooter and 2A supporter.
My family are all now conservative and the younguns are growing more savvy
And we have broadened the reach and use of "Yinz".
All very good
Re: Before and After - How has PAFOA Changed YOU?
A wise person once told me that a teacher presents himself when the student is ready. That's how I view PAFOA.
I was a Fudd of the highest order. I've loved firearms since I was a little kid, but I didn't have a damn clue, really. I actually found out about PAFOA while mockingly asking a guy in a gun shop if a certain pistol was "suitable for carrying openly like those people at Old Country Buffet in Dickson City." My understanding and knowledge of firearm laws and politics has since grown exponentially. I've gone from thinking that civilians had no real need to own an AR-15 to yelling "Constitution motherfucker!" at bank tellers and grandmas.
This place has definitely enlightened me over the last 10+ years. In some ways I kinda feel like Neo in The Matrix. No going back.
Re: Before and After - How has PAFOA Changed YOU?
I've purchased one firearm since I joined Poofa in 2013. I had many more guns before 2005 when I cleared my safe of everything I hadn't shot in a couple of years. I've learned a few things about legalities thanks to people like Gun Lawyer Phil and the other lawyer fella and it's good to keep up because the laws are constantly changing. I also confirmed that there are still those that work against us no matter what the facts are and I've read some damn funny jokes in the Joke Thread. I've been around firearms for many years, over 40 and this forum is a good place to talk to others without being bothered by too many trolls. I think I dislike democrats more now than when I joined even if I didn't think that was possible then.
