Re: Negative encounter at the Shop Rite
I was there today around 3:30 pm to pick up sushi for dinner - parking lot was packed, aisles were packed, check-out stations were packed (except for the 12 that were closed apparently for some idiot's recommendation about controlling costs).
Thought they were giving away food for free based on the density in this store and the level of their shopping carts.
Talked to the folks in front of me and behind in the line. Normal people some who probably own guns and a few who probably carried - but no printing noticed by me. "Getting too jittery staying at home, had to get out". "We're running out of food" (by full cart lady - and there were more than a baker's dozen of full cart ladies in the open check-out aisles). "I'm just tired of my own damn cooking and needed a break". "It's gonna snow tomorrow."
SNOW? OMG! ANOTHER POLAR VORTEX!!!!!
I understand the percolating that goes on when you think you may one day be out of food - which is why we fish, garden, & hunt. Depending on who shows up, we probably have a year's supply of most everything...no, we're not hoarders - we've just had a great few seasons as a result of favorable weather conditions and a lot of hard work.
In another life (hurricane from hell + tidal wave expected in 45 minutes), we were in Hawaii and I saw essentially the same compaction of shoppers with full carts - most were smart enough not to wait in lines, but just threw money on the counter and wheeled their carts through the door, tossed everything in, and then instead of going home, drove up the nearest hill and parked. Looking at the currency tossed on one counter, they weren't short-changing the store, just wanted to be sure they paid (more than paid) for whatever they needed and didn't have the time to stand in lines.
It's only "I'D BETTER PANIC" when people don't stop to pay - whatever they can afford to pay.... :o
Re: Negative encounter at the Shop Rite
I was going to suggest "I can neither confirm or deny I am a police officer." But saying "I am not at liberty to discuss my employment." is way better. No insinuation that you are or are not a LEO and it is a real mind messer!

I asked that one time and she shot back and said, "and they make an exquisite ass of themselves!"
Another 'cop?' Answer that works is, " for safety and security reasons everyone in my department has been advised to answer that question 'no' !"
Again, it's alwaysbest to screw with people's minds, lots more fun that way!

Woman: "Then why are you carrying a gun"? (slightly elevated tone)

Woman: (raised voice) "FROM WHO!!!"

LOL. I'm thinking "The Chief has ordered we neither confirm nor deny our status" is good. Without mentioning "The Chief" 'round here is my wife: only because her alternative titles of the "Boss" or the "Directator" are less impactful.
Screwing with their minds = always good.

Yes we frequent the same one I think. Hatfield.
Re: Negative encounter at the Shop Rite
