Re: No firearms signage - Bucks County Government Annex Levittown
[QUOTE=sgmwatkins;3203362]Happy New Years all,
I went to the Bucks Cty annex in Levittown and noticed a "no firearms" sign.
Is that legal?
Just a regular gun with a line through it or the word "no guns".
Not legal. If it is a court room, there is a fairly large sign required, citing he law. Also storage is required.
If it is not a court room, or building that locks people up, than it is not legal.

This is actually how they can make you check your weapons at the state capital. There's some old court rooms there.
That until last year were used. Are they still being used? If not than we need to get that fixed.

Just be careful how you proceed. We don't need anyone else to get McKpwned. ;)

Yeah, I'm guessing they'll find a way to use them once or twice a year just for that reason. In any event, I wonder how long they would have to sit unused to get rid of the prohibition.

I go to the annex for my LTCF because I don't feel like driving to Doylestown. It takes a couple of days to come in. Doylestown issues them on the spot.

Some "old court rooms?" How about the Pennsylvania Supreme Court?

The PA Supreme Court chamber still exists in the Capitol. And the use it for argument when the court sits in Harrisburg. So technically, this makes the Capitol a court facility.
Now, I think making the entire complex a facility always has been a stretch.

If the annex building in Levittown has a Sheriff's office (as in for issuing LTCFs), then, by definition, it's a court facility. If it contains Probation & Parole offices, it's a court facility. Active, inactive, opened, closed, it doesn't matter. As long as it exists as such, it qualifies.
And, if it's a court facility, it's supposed to provide storage. If it doesn't, one can always write to their County Commissioners and ask why it doesn't.

The women at the front desk do not work for the Sheriff's office. The perform some functions by taking LTCF applications. They do not issue the LTCF, they are sent down from the Sheriff's office in Doylestown. They also perform tasks for other offices like dog licenses. passports, job applications, etc. The health Department takes up most of the other space.
The Government Services Center does not have Probation or Parole offices.

Write a letter, ask why the building is so posted. Cite the applicable law if necessary.
