Re: What did you buy yourself today (Photo thread)...
Had the guys at SPAS-12.com do the cross-bolt safety conversion on my old 1983 SPAS-12, a somewhat rare variant with the factory 19 7/8" barrel and 7+1 tube (the standard was 21.5" BBL and 8+1 capacity).
SPAS-12, LAW-12, and SAS-12 owners with the old flip lever style safety can finally rejoice, after years of being stuck with a potentially deadly problem (the safety lever is known to eventually wear down, and moving it will occasionally fire the gun even when the trigger isn't pressed). The only real fix I had prior to this, was swapping the cross-bolt safety from my LAW-12 between the two shotguns.
As with everything else I've purchased from the SPAS-12 project, work quality was top-notch, and turn-around time was very fast (~ approx. 2 weeks, took about 5 business days for mine with USPS priority mail).

Les at Shaeffer Precision Gunworks reworked the trigger (and did a phenomenal job) so I figured a new set of grips might round out the gun nicely. These are from Valkyrie Dynamics, anodized aluminum, and extremely easy to shoot. We'll see how much dirt gets stuck in the mag area...

No mudding or significant amounts of snow other than what we get here in Pa. The Pirelli's are cool for now but you better believe when it's time for new tires they will be replaced with something less fancy and more suited for our weather.
