Re: Best 1911 for under $1000.00
ive said it before and ill say it again... my TRP is my favorite gun i have ever shot or owned (and i have a decent collection if i do say so myself) I and a few other people who have shot it like it better than the bill wilson carry my buddy shoots... I say save up a little more and go the TRP route.
Re: Best 1911 for under $1000.00
oh yea the NEW sig 1911s are pretty good. I had a new stainless and id say it had the best trigger i ever felt on any production 1911. I liked it 10x more than the kimber i use to have

It is a fine gun, as fine as any mentioned on the thread, BUT, that beast ain't $1000 or less. Kicking aside, I agree with you. For sheer quality, standard features, accuracy, and stunning good looks, the TRP is one of the best 1911 deals, regardless of money, out there. JMO, too.

The last time i handled a TRP I had 3 malfunctions (FTE and FTF) in a single box of ammo.
Anyway Justin, I'm of the opinion that whatever 1911 you buy it will need to see a good gunsmith to run right, so might as well buy a cheap one and build it.
Re: Best 1911 for under $1000.00
I have to agree on the taurus pt 1911......Love mine.... Itll eat any round I put through it without an issue and they come with a bunch of mods done from taurus that you wont find on any other gun comparable in price
Re: Best 1911 for under $1000.00
STI Spartan
Springfield Armory Loaded or Range Master
Those are my recommendations, but they are middle to upper end of the price range, for the lower range I would go (and own) a SA GI but it's known for hammer bite!

Thanks in advance
Dude, I know I already posted a few of my opinions, but I would be remiss if I didn't tell you about a Colt XSE Government model I got to put a little time on over the weekend. Nice, nice, 1911 that cost the owner just under $900. Colt name, Colt quality, looked great, and very accurate. In my opinion, all it needed was a mag well, but all 1911's need that IMO.

Just make sure if you put a mag well on it does not wrap around the front. Also, make sure it is installed properly and has the shit loctited out of it. If it shifts and locks your magazine in, you're kinda fucked.

Wilson Combat makes one that is pretty fool proof. Inexpensive, as well.

My hands are too large for a single stack 1911, so I carry a Para Ord P13 double stacker.
You may wish to go this route if you're similarly handicapped.
