You can buy a used Nighthawk for $700-$800? Please tell me where.

I use to own a Les Baer Premier II i traded it because i just hate target sights. I will be getting another Les Baer soon. But id say for around a 1000 or under to go with a colt. The Gun Site in Arizona uses a custom Colt that is made just for them. I hate kimbers!
A friend of mine just bought a Citadel 1911 A1 FS at the Gettysburg show last Sat. we got to test it out that day. The trigger was sweet (3.6 lbs.), we sent 300+ rounds factory and hand loads thru it. it shot great! It was on target with no problems. I was impressed with it to the point I just ordered one for myself.:)
How about a few 15 to 16 hundred dollar 1911's for under $1000: Colt Gold Cup Trophy, SA MC Operator, SA Loaded PX9152LP (my fav. in the Loaded models), Colt Series 70 reintro, a nice used SA TRP. I say it this way because I have handled and shot each one of these and they, in my opinion, could easily cost more than the $800 to $900 that they are (not the TRP). They are all exceptional for the money. $600 to $700: Taurus PT (2007 mod. or later), SA RO, SA Loaded. I don't know enough about the Philippine 1911's to make a comment, but I have not read very much negativity on them other than the triggers on some are not good. I handled an American Classic and I didn't think the trigger was terrible. Believe it or not, out of the box, I think the PT has the best trigger of the few I listed, but they are all good. JMHO on all.
Yep. Colt......SA Loaded.Quote:

If it ain't a colt it's just a copy;) lol I like a good series 70 myself!
If it was my money it would be a Remington R1. I was playing with one the other day and I really liked it. I have a 1942 Colt M1911a1 Army that'll go to the grave with me so I don't need another 1911 right now.
I have had nothing But perfection with my springfields. (All 4 of them) if u get a colt, I'd recommend looking at an older one. I had an xse and I could never get it to run for a full box of ammo without giving me ftf's and fte's.
Not ragging on the Pony. It just seems that their qc has been slipping lately.
My bad, dude. The 9 is supposed to be a 7. Most of the issues I have read about are from the early production models (06 into 07). I wouldn't want to recommend a pistol to someone without at least saying there might be an issue with it. My PT is a Dec. 07 model, and it has gone 3100 rds with no failures, at all. I called about two used PT's I saw for sale that had wear marks on the frame from the slide that are not supposed to be there. Both were built before March of 07. This may be more of an anal or OCD thing with me, but I do not like to take that big of a risk with $600. I have shot 4 PT's built in 2010, and there was no way I could tell they were $600 guns. Everything seemed to fit and function just a bit better than my 07 model. They still have the thin, parkerized finish, but other than that, a very good 1911 for the money. JMHO
I edited the post with the incorrect date.
