From what I hear, the "E" part of "J&E" no longer wish's to be a partner, and sold his share of store back to "J" part of "J&E".
I guess he enjoys spending time with his kid in afternoon, which I can understand.
When I spoke to him about this auction about month ago, he had no idea that was going on.
He was not sure if "J" is planning to reopon or not.
Sad, indeed.
Bump!!!
4 days till the auction for anyone interested
So the big secret the auction people forgot to mention in the ads, but they had you sign a rights waiver before you could register, the store had a fire. And this was a real 'Fire Sale'. The S&W .357 looked clean but was dirty on the inside. Just have to make sure it does not rust. Still it would have helped with the decision to go up. Got it for about 50-100 off best interent prices so that was a plus. But then again I was not buying to sell again. I was buying to shoot it.
I recognized many of the guns on the auctioneer's list from the J&E web site inventory before the fire. Also, J&E had a couple dozen black rifles and three or four display cases of black handguns at the Centre Hall show in April, and there were few black rifles/handguns in the auction list. I concluded the auction was pre-fire store inventory and that's why I didn't attend.
They must have taken / purchased the store inventory back from the insurance co. as part of the settlement, and auctioned it for quick cash.
