Chambersburg Pistol and Rifle Club
Gnbrotz took me over to the club yesterday morning. I was very impressed with the facilities they have there. I am really considering joining, even though they require members to belong to NRA. The pistol lanes were beautiful as well as the rifle range. Thanks, Gnbrotz.

Glad you were pleased with what you saw. I'd describe as having 'minimal' facilities. It doesn't have a finished "clubhouse" or serve food, etc. like some sportsman's clubs, but if all you need is a decent place to shoot, then it should serve your needs.
We weren't able to shoot yesterday, because there was a regional NRA match, but when there are no events going on, I hardly ever see another person when I'm there. If anyone else is interested in seeing the grounds in person, I'd be happy to show you around.

At the center of this Google map.
Just south of Chambersburg, along Cider Press Rd (just N of Garber Rd). The large gravel area in the center is the main pistol range. There are now three additional pistol bays to the south of that (the image only shows two). North of the pistol range (grassy area) are the rifle ranges.
Re: Chambersburg Pistol and Rifle Club
I was a member years back before a lot of the improvements were made, and it was a great place to shoot even back then...very handy location.
Re: Chambersburg Pistol and Rifle Club
I forgot to mention....
There is no requirement to come to work days, or help with anything that needs done around the range, BUT, if you do, there is a log book to record your time, and the last I checked, if you provided 10 or more hours of work in a year, the next year's dues are waved. The dues were recently increased, so I'm not sure if the hour requirement to cover dues was raised as well, but it's certainly a nice option to have, especially during these tight economic times.
Re: Chambersburg Pistol and Rifle Club
I just wanted to bump this thread.
Two weeks ago I joined and yesterday I finally got a chance to go up and shoot. 50, 100 and 160 yard rifle ranges, a covered shooting building for the 50 and 100yd ranges. 3 pistol ranges for those times when folks are shooting at different distances.
Very nice place. The port-a-johns don't stink and the grounds were in really good shape.
My father-in-law wants me to take him up one weekend, he is considering joining.

How much for initiation/yearly dues?
To whom must I apply?
Thanks,
Flash
Re: Chambersburg Pistol and Rifle Club
You can contact the club president, George Martin, at antiquebears AT comcast DOT net. Annual dues are $45.00 (you must be an NRA member to belong to the club). I cant' recall if there is any additional fees for new members or not. All dues run Jan-Dec. I'm pretty sure there's a reduced fee for the partial year if you would apply after June or July.
I've had a couple other members contact me recently, so I'll email George myself so I can clarify the details on an initiation fee and part-year membership.
