Proposed Second Buck Tag: Admitted Money Grab
http://http://www.yorkdispatch.com/s...lic/993362001/
York County’s PA Game Commissioner Michael Mitrick......are you nuts? Mitrick proposes the sale of a second buck tag pre season for a mere $100-$150. And he admits it’s simply about the money. It has nothing to do with deer management.
Seems the Game Commission isn’t getting their fair share of funding. So they are simply going to sell 10,000 more permits to take bucks. Yet at the same time they have antler restrictions which presumably follows deer management science in order to maximize the quality of hunting. Seems like a ridiculous contradiction to me.

So...govt being honest for a change, and you'd rather it lie?
Re: Proposed Second Buck Tag: Admitted Money Grab
That will do wonders for the deer herd.
Maybe they should try cutting staff, and reduce the ridiculous retirement benefits? Naah.

Well, yeah. Like when the old man got the belt out and warned me that it was going to hurt him more than it would hurt me. At least, he didn’t outright tell me he was really going to enjoy it.

You should have said, "I'd like to test that theory, give me the belt".

Honest question: With the costs of licensing, gear, butchering and other such sundries, is the amount of meat you get from a dear actually cost effective?

If I’d have said that, I guarantee you he would have enjoyed giving me the belt ...over and over and over and......

Well, good lean beef at an average of $4 per pound and say 40 lbs of meat.....$160. I’d say it’s a wash. But I can’t put a price on the tradition for my family. And I cut my own deer up. So there’s a savings. But average Joe can’t afford to buy another tag at that price.

Most marathoners don't enter a marathon expecting to win.
