I learned a long time ago in the custom motorcycle world. Respect the work done not the job done. Custom work is the taste of a specific customer. It's not supposed to have mass appeal. It only has to make the person paying happy.
How much would you charge to coat an AR, one solid color?
Specially, a gunmetal gray finish.

Upper, lower and handguard probly $150 total. Just the paint alone is $50. If you want the stock done probly looking at another 40-75 depending on the model of the stock. If you send me an assembled gun add $100 to the price for disassembly, degrease, reassembly, and lube job.
Did this Smith a few weeks back. It was in horrible condition when it was sent to me. This was stored in leather for over 20 years. Very sentimental to the owner. Took out as much rust pitting as I could without affecting the engraving. Matched the color to original bluing quite well. Customer was over joyed it was returned to a great functional condition.
I keep forgetting to take before work shots. Maybe on the next one ?
