Now that my son is eligible for his first hunting license, I have a question regarding ID. Does he need to show some form of ID to purchase, or is his hunter safety card enough? I'll check the pgc site as well.

To buy the license you will need his HTE card. You will also need his SS number.
They use this number in the new license system. I was not asked for ID.
However, when he is hunting, he must have an ID. You could use either a school ID or get one from Pendot. Also, keep a copy of the HTE card with his back tag.
Where is this info listed? I checked the pGC website and all I found was something stating "youth hunters not old enough to drive, the parent or guardian is proving residency by their signature and by their showing of proof thereof, or something to that effect.
If you have your DL and you bring the hunters ed card, Birth Certificate and SS card you will get it no problem. This may be overkill but you won't have any problems.
Yeah I will most likely do that. Then again I can buy it at wal-mart where they most likely won't even ask for anything.........I have heard that the clerks at WM never ask to see a junior's hunter ed card.
W/ the new POS system you punch in the SSN the first time. You won't get his license w/ out doing that but all he needs is the hunter ed card. A school ID works in the field but shouldn't be necessary to get his first license.
