Re: Cheap but Great .22 Pistol - Pheonix Arms
The safety looks like it's straight from a Jennings J25 (my first pistol, yeah low standards) but that's the only design cue I'm seeing. Does the magazine really eject when you hit the release? Jennings and Raven you have to pull the mag out.

If you notice these guns have two manual safeties, they are super extra safe.

Yeah, I think they did that to be able to sell in states like CA, MD and MA.

From what I remember, these were originally from a group of "manufacturers" known as the Ring of Fire in CA. Pot metal (Zinc alloy) and might allow 1 shot before they jammed. If you can get a complete magazine to fire, you are doing well. Dave_n

My experience with the Raven was a hit to my left arm 25 acp by a punk 16 year old in 1970s ! JD detention till 21 and out on the streets at that time !

Yeah, I remember those gun makers.
Phoenix Arms must have done something for the better.
Just about every video review I watch on this pistol is positive.
Hey, for a backyard plinker it works well.

Not only were they all from the same area, but they were all owned by the same family. The dad started with Raven, then Jennings, the daughter and her husband started cobra/davis, his sons started a couple companies that made similar guns under different names. Its actually an interesting story.
As for them not running, not entirely true, if you douse them in wd40 every couple of mags they tend to run better. Though I have found widening the extractor slot, replacing the extractor spring, and polishing the inside of the slide will make them much more reliable. I was pretty shocked the last time I took my bryco .22 out, because its running nearly 100% with cheap ammo and no extra lube, and I don't remember it doing that before.
