To answer your specific question, spring gobbler is shotgun only. Manually operated or semi and plugged to three rounds.
Three in the chamber and magazine combined. So the magazine has to be plugged to accept only two shells, correct?

You can't go wrong with an official Red Ryder, carbine action, 200-shot, range model air rifle, with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time.
