Check out Lebo's Gunsmithing in Shippensburg. He opened up about a year and a half ago. I went to gunsmith school with him, he does fantastic work. With out a doubt one of the best smiths I went to school with. Very friendly guy as well.

MasonArmsGunsmithing,
Thanks for directing the OP toward that Lebo fella-- I checked out his website and it sounds like he's the kind of guy I would consider going to for that custom bolt action I've been brain-storming for the past few years. Now, to get the funds saved-up...
I don't know how good they are with sights but Staudt's fixed my screw up with a Ruger 22/45 MK III really fast.
Sorry for the non response chris.
Your OP is the reason I don't use gunsmiths. I'm in my 5th decade of shooting. Never needed one and did my share of DIY with acceptable results. Just heard to many stories like yours over the years.
A handful of years back I decided I wanted a better trigger on my 1911. I never did a pistol trigger and decided to pay someone to do it. I heard a young guy (mentioned here a couple times) had taken over a shop I previously heard good things about. I called his shop and left him messages three times. No call back. I won't call him out here and wish him well with his business, but he lost mine and I won't send anyone else to him.
I read a lot on line and watched a lot of you tube and did it myself. It came out reasonably well. A professional probably could have done a better job, if I knew one I'd send you his way.
GOOD LUCK on your search. (cdi above makes a good point and the price is right)

I might be late, but I've had good luck with Kesslers. Google "Kesslers gunworks". Marysville....
You want to pay as little as $10 for sight install but you've personally experienced a number of poor install jobs. I'm really confused why you want to go with bottom pricing after the issues you list. If it were me the title of the post would be "Who can install sights CORRECTLY regardless of cost?" I'm not saying this is a high cost job but be careful. When you say "basic gunsmithing" there are a lot of amateurs who think it doesn't take experience. These are the guys that will not know well enough to use brass vs steel tools leaving tool marks all over your gun.
You're paying for the talent, experience, tool use, warranty of the work, etc... If it were a DIY job, well, you'd do it yourself. With that said I'd second the recommendation for Carlisle Gun Works. Mike is reasonable and does good work.
