The same gun I carry. 1911. But I did lay a few extra mags out next to it. Set out a box of 12 gauge shells.
Re: What's that ONE gun you'll b keeping in the nightstand tonight?
My tactical 12 gauge shotgun and FNS-9 as backup.
Re: What's that ONE gun you'll b keeping in the nightstand tonight?
Maybe my nightstand is smaller, but still does the job - Ruger LCP II and a Stag lefty AR in backup. Star BM being added to the stable soon as the dust clears.

I’ve got an entire safe next to my bed
Re: What's that ONE gun you'll b keeping in the nightstand tonight?
Ruger P90. Bedside holster.
Re: What's that ONE gun you'll b keeping in the nightstand tonight?
I keep one of my AR15 pistols handy. I have a green laser sight on it. I bought them from Stag Arms since they make the left handed ejection. It won me over because no one ever seems to build anything for left handers. I don't have a problem shooting the traditional right handed ejection. For me it was the "cool factor" of having them. This is the one, the answer to the question. Stay safe, armed and at the ready!

Sig 227 with CT lazer/light combo and 14 round mags.

Don't want that light or laser crapping out when needed.
I needed two for a weapon light.
I paid $10 for two 123 Energizer batteries at Target. I knew I was paying more than I could get them online for, but they were there, and I keep forgetting to order them.
I walked through the sporting goods department at Walmart today, and what do I see? Surefire 123 batteries - $4.97 for two. ($4.47 with my discount)
Sonofabitch!
