If I get a PA Pistol Permit and Move out of PA ?
Hi,
I live in New (we hate guns) York.
I want to get a NY pistol permit, and I feel like my best chance is to get as many other permits from other states as I can, then apply for a NY permit.
I have the paperwork for Utah.
I was wondering what PA does if you move out of state, will your permit be revoked, changed to a non resident, etc?
I have family close by in PA, so I could set up residence in another state without putting too much of a burden on myself.
Thanks,
Jim

Just save yourself the trouble and get a Non-Resident LTCF... It's not hard and you won't have to risk "lying" about your residency.
Re: If I get a PA Pistol Permit and Move out of PA ?
I could not find any counties that issue non resident permits.
I live closest to Wayne county.
Maybe I can give Pike a try, I have relatives there.
My deceased uncle was an attorney in Pike, and he had a CCW.
He also had a lot of handguns I could inherit, provided I could transport them back to my state, or prison.
Whats the best county to issue a non res permit?
I know, I know, search, but the search brings back tons of useless results of you guys bickering about reciprocity agreements. ;)

Since NY does issue permits, you will need a NY permit to qualify for a nonresident PA license.
Centre County is the best for nonresident LTCF's in PA.. ...but you still need your home state license/permit first since NY does issues them.

Centre, you can fill out the application and mail it with the required fee and they'll mail your license to you. Click here to go to the sheriff's page that has a link to the application and instructions. But, you need to have a valid permit in your home state, in order to get a non-resident PA LTCF.
From the PA Uniform Firearms Act:
Quote:
(e) Issuance of license.*
(1) A license to carry a firearm shall be for the purpose of carrying a firearm concealed on or about one's person or in a vehicle and shall be issued if, after an investigation not to exceed 45 days, it appears that the applicant is an individual concerning whom no good cause exists to deny the license. A license shall not be issued to any of the following:
(snipped out the non-relevant parts)
(ix) A resident of another state who does not possess a current license or permit or similar document to carry a firearm issued by that state if a license is provided for by the laws of that state, as published annually in the Federal Register by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms of the Department of the Treasury under 18 U.S.C. §921(a)(19) (relating to definitions).

You can get a non res permit from FL or I suppose UT and it will be good so long as you are in Pa.
Re: If I get a PA Pistol Permit and Move out of PA ?
Nobody answered if I get a resident PA license and move out of state.
The reason I want to go this route is,
I feel that my best chance to get a license in NY is to get as many permits from other states as I can.
If I have a wallet of licenses to carry, the judge has to give me some consideration, even though the licenses are worth squat in NY.

Ok I'll bite.
Yes I suppose if somehow you can establish residency enough to acquire either a Pa DL or county ID you can get a res. Pa permit. Is it legal to intentionally establish dual residency with intent of getting a Pa permit? Who knows?

A PA LTCF is good until it expires or is revoked/suspended. I cant remember what the sworn statement reads that you sign to on our application - but falsely stating your residence may result in criminal action.
From what I understand, NY judges have no responsibility to consider your licenses from other states.
