The NO Show "protest" from HGC Yesterday and a bit of a Bombshell !
So, the zealots from HGC were a big fat no show yesterday at the Shooters Shop. Still wasnt a wasted effort by any means. There was a great turnout for being in the middle of a workday for normal people. Lots of regular attendee's and friends were there, reliable as always. Got to put a couple more faces to names here, Mostly Harmless, Roland of Gilead and The First and the Second for starters. Finally got to meet Dr Bruce Eimer as well, really great guy. If I left anyone out I apologize it is NOT intentional.
Channel 6 sent a camera crew, but since there was nothing going on, no reporter showed up, but we did get a 30 second segment on last night's 6pm to 6:30pm coverage. Although Jim Gardner in his voice over said it was organized by something called " Philadelphia for change now " or something like that. I have NO idea where he got that from. I tried to find the clip on WPVI's site, but they have the one immediately before it about the guy robbing the bank in the McNabb jersey and the one immediately after our segment about the WTC Steel returning to Coatesville , but not ours. If someone can find it, by all means please throw it up here.
I think this also was another piece of positive media coverage from the Philly media regarding the 2A, which at least to me validates that showing up for these things IS worth the time and effort, despite what "whenheavensfell" said in the other thread about us "validating " the protestors.
I can say with utter certainty that the shop owners and their family and friends are EXTREMELY grateful for any and all support they get. These are really good people folks, whats being done to them is a travesty and they deserve every bit of help we can give them.
Another good job by the Officers of the Philly Civil Affairs Unit , nearly all of whom have maintained since the first protest back in February that WE are right and are doing the right thing and the HGC are flat out wrong. Its always nice to get verbal support and words of encouragement from LEO's, even if its "off the record".
Now onto the "bombshell"
I received a few copies of a letter from the Philly DA's Office /Gun Violence Task Force, that the owner was sent.
In this letter, dated March 30,2010. The SADA that wrote it said " This is written in recognition of the excellent cooperation of the Shooter Shop in combating illegal gun trafficking in the City of Philadelphia. Over the course of the past three years, you and your employee's have furnished information on suspected straw purchasing which has led to numerous arrests and convictions, several with in the past few months.
Your efforts have helped to make our City a safer place to live and work.On behalf of the citizens of Philadelphia, please accept our thanks for your continued cooperation. To that let me add my personal thanks.
Special Assitant DA
Chief, Gun Violence Task Force
I cant wait to see Shane or Cryin Bryan or the media try to spin this!

Like SOR said it was a good turnout for a weekday from the forum members. We actually had more people show up yesterday than Saturday. And we even got popcorn.

OMG ! I cant believe I forgot to mention you being there theo ! Sorry man:o
Also forgot to mention that the NRA/ILA alerts are having at least some effect. Several people that I have never seen there before showed up, that were wearing NRA logo'd gear and not affiliated with PAFOA showed up.
One guy asked for and received the PAFOA website addy and my screen name, so we should be seeing at least one new member sometime soon.
There was also a young couple there, early to mid twenties, woman was a blonde. Im pretty sure just from gut instinct that they maybe members here, but I didnt get the chance to introduce myself or ask them before they left.
Jan ( Mostly Harmless) amused me a little. This tall guy was standing around, obviously trying to find someone in the crowd outside the shop and then just bellowed out " who here is son of the revolution?" in a thick German accent, the contrast was funny :D

Careful man, we dont want to catch a ban for going "off topic " right ? :p
He wasnt really a bad guy, quite a bit ignorant and misguided, but at least voiced a willingness to listen and learn, which is more then I can say for the HGC people. Jeff pulled me aside and told me he was just a local "character" but so what ? I just considered his constant left field topic shifts to be practice for the real debates. I figure if I can keep up with the rapid fire mental shifts and topic changes with that guy, Cryin Bryan and others will be a piece of cake.
I was actually kind of surprised how often he kept veering off into things like education and govt conspiracies and "implanting micro chips " in criminals and all kinds of other non sensical stuff. He seemed to at least understand the topic enough to admit his knowledge was one sided and limited, but he was a strange duck to be sure.

I just admired your patience with that guy.
Back home I noticed that we missed an opportunity. There were quite a few neighbors standing in front of their doors. With HGC not showing, we would have had the time to let them know what is happening on their block.

Yes, I too was handed a copy of that letter. It reads very much like a slam dunk, and it put a smile on my face.

They had that letter at the Good Friday rally, too. Malocka tried to give a copy to Bryan Miller, who refused it. She did give copies out to reporters that were there.
SOTR, good job yesterday. Sorry I couldn't make it, but I can't miss work for every rally.
