New Blair County Sheriff: NFA friendly?
Has anybody tried to run a Form 1 or Form 4 through the new sheriff yet? I will be putting together another SBR in the near future, just waiting on some measurements before filling out paperwork. Previous Sheriff was very cool about it. I've heard good things about the new Sheriff, but no word on how gun friendly he is?
Re: New Blair County Sheriff: NFA friendly?
I haven't heard anything, but I am interested in the outcome.
Re: New Blair County Sheriff: NFA friendly?
I've heard that he is ok with NFA but I haven't seen any proof yet. I can only hope he is as willing as our previous Sheriff was.
Re: New Blair County Sheriff: NFA friendly?
I've heard good things about the guy, so I'm crossing my fingers he's cool with me submitting a Form 1 for his signature. As soon as I get the rifle back from the builder, I will be able to get some final measurements on paper, then I will head to the Sheriffs office and see what happens. I hope I'm able to do this in the next few weeks. First Form 1 I submitted in 2008 took 88 days for approval. Second Form I submitted in 2009 took 137 days for approval. I hope some of the panic/insanity is over by now, so when I submit this one it doesn't take as long. Wishful thinking, I know, heheh.

"National Firearms Act"
It's sort of a blanket term used to describe Automatic Weapons, Short Barreled Rifles, Suppressors, and other goodies that would require a Form1 or Form 4 to be submitted for local LEO approval.
Re: New Blair County Sheriff: NFA friendly?
I just paid a visit to the sheriffs office and was told that the new sheriff will not sign Forms 1 or 4. When I asked why not I was told that "he does not know the people and most are buying things they don't need". I was told "go to the Hollidaysburg State Police Barracks". Residents of the city of Altoona have had luck with Lt. Krug signing their paperwork.

You have got to be fucking kidding me?
Re: New Blair County Sheriff: NFA friendly?
I'm going to hit up some other forums and see if there is any intel out there on what is going on with the new Sheriff.
While I was on jury duty last March, I stopped by his office a couple times to see if I could chat with him for a minute or two and get his opinion on Form 1's, but he was out both times. Worker Bee's in the office told me he would not let me drop off the paperwork, I would have to make an appointment to see him first. I'm still waiting on a custom build before I can start the Form 1 process. Without the serial number, I can't do anything right now.
Because I'm a card carrying member of the Murphy's Law club, I will go ahead and start working on a back up plan (Trust FTW!) so if he is NFA-Unfriendly, I can just ignore him and press on with my latest build. :D
I also need to research who can (legally) or cannot sign off on the Form 1 for Blair County. (Other than Sheriff)
