Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe most police only carry two spare magazines. More than that seems like overkill. However, if your back can take it, and if makes you feel better, it's a free country. Reasonably free, anyway.

You're only carrying 6 mags? You're seriously rolling the dice here. My standard loadout is 12, but 10 for summer while wearing cut-off jean shorts.
6 mags? Sounds iffy to me. I wouldn't go with less than 7.
1 round- loose in the shirt pocket. Anything else and your showing off.
OP's profile shows he is from Philly and knows he's fucked if and when the 20 guy's come to his door for him.
This dudes got "coming up at 11 O'clock" written all over him.
This is the exact reason why I refuse to know 20 guy's and always keep it at 19.
So you carry your pistol 6 extra mags three knives an axe as fire extinguisher and seven days food and water?
Not paranoia but preparation. You never know.

LMAO !
The big difference between yourself and the officer in that article, is the officer in that article has a job that requires him to intentionally go and face armed assailants. That means he is umpteen times more likely to be involved in a shootout. You, as a private citizen, unless you’re out looking for trouble, the odds of you ever needing a gun at all are, thankfully, infinitesimally small, and if you should end up in a situation at that point, you’re not going to be standing there trading gun fire for 147 rounds. Carry a back up magazine? Absolutely! Carry two if you feel like it’s necessary. But unless you’re carrying a micro pistol with a five round capacity, the chances that you’re ever going to need more than three magazines total is basically zero.
Well that's one cop's story out of 10's of thousands of all LE in the USA.
