plinking on private property
I reside in Tobyhanna (Coolbaugh township) and live on about 1 acre of land. If I construct a decent backstop, does anybody know if i can plink on my property? I'm shooting a .22 Mossberg 702 plinkster that I got second handed from a family friend. Any leads would be great!

Some ordinances may include NOISE restrictions too. Even if there is no Firearms clause, you may invite trouble if the NOISE ENFORCMENT OFFICER stops by.;)
Also, plinking may sound better to you, but to them it is still "FIREARMS DISCHARGING". (or shooting)
Re: plinking on private property
so my best bet would be just stopping by the municipal building I guess?

That would be your QUICKEST way to get a "NO".
Re: plinking on private property
Not saying it cannot be done safely on one acre, but you're pushing it a bit IMO.
What's the neighbor situation?
Re: plinking on private property
I say it all depends on your neighbors. If they don't mind you shouldn't have an issue.
Re: plinking on private property
If local ordinance allow it, and there is no noise ordinance you are probably in good shape to do so..
That said, whats behind the backstop you will be shooting at? If there is another house there I would not chance it...

FROM the PA GAME COMMISSION: (Safety zone identified)
Definition.--As used in this section the term "safety zone" means:
(1) Except as otherwise provided in paragraph (2), the area within 150 yards around and that area which is below the highest point of any occupied dwelling house, residence, or other building or camp occupied by human beings, or any barn, stable, or other building used in connection therewith or any attached or detached playground of any school, nursery school or day-care center.
-----------------
And, on another note:
Shooting at or causing injury to human beings.
(a) General rule.--It is unlawful for any person while hunting or furtaking, through carelessness or negligence, to shoot at, injure or kill any human being through the use of a firearm, bow and arrow or other deadly weapon.
(Did this have to be said?)

I believe the quoted statute only applies when engaged in hunting. There are several good threads about shooting on ones property. This particular statutes has been discussed at length. IANAL
