A Prius? Ugh.
Hey thanks for the invite, I appreciate it! I'll definitely check out the link

My buddy was just saying the same thing today about steel targets, which I'm going to look into now that all of my pallets are shims. For the record, I have nothing against Priuses, just the chode that happened to be driving this one, saw me in a field with a GUN and freaked out. I just remember the vehicle was a Prius.

I'd stop by the local police and ask for some input, ask to see what ordinances apply. If they give you a blank look, go to the nearest public library and ask to see the ordinances for your municipality, they usually have them. There's a difference between what the zoning code requires for a "public range" used by many, and what you're allowed to do yourself on your own land.
Statewide, there are criminal statutes involving recklessness and endangering others, but not much in the way of regulating shooting at dirt on your own land. The locals tend to do that, which is NOT preempted by state law (although regulation of the possession and carry and transport transfers of firearms are limited to state law, "use" is still fair game for the locals).
This. Thank you.
Had to edit this because you followed up with the NFA-registered silencer possibility. "What mama don't know won't hurt her" *Roy Orbison tattoo here*

I don't believe Penn Township has any regulations pertaining to the discharge of firearms. Myself and a number of my neighbors shoot quite a bit spring thru fall and there is no issue. And yes, the zip code is the same as yours
Just be smart and respectful all will be good

Re: Target practice on private property
As long as you are far enough off the roads and are not near any other houses then I don't think there are any requirements as far as backstops go. Obviously use common sense, make sure you aren't shooting over the backstop or that ricochets can't get over it.
