Re: buckmark 22 vs Ruger 22
I have a Buckmark as well. But I really think they are both quality guns and I think it's a matter of which one you get use to shooting. A friend of mine has the Ruger and I think it shoots very well.

Re: buckmark 22 vs Ruger 22
I can't speak to inherent accuracy between the two models. They're both very accurate from my experience. Here's what I've seen.
I own a Buckmark, a very good friend owns a Ruger. We take our kids to range and switch guns back and forth. Everyone prefers the Buckmark because of the standard grips.
The Buckmark camper model I own has nice ergo grips. The standard Ruger grips he has are more 'slab-sided'. Put on similar grips and toss a coin...

It goes without saying. They do not scrimp, anywhere. The BHP is one of the best shooting (regardless of caliber), best feeling pistols you could ever wrap your hands around. But that is JMHO. I have never seen a Browning firearm that wasn't, at least, excellent in quality (also JMHO).
Re: buckmark 22 vs Ruger 22
Of the 22's I've owned the Rugers are more accurate than the Brownings although I like both. The thing I like about the Brownings though are the ease of cleaning and you can easily acquire different barrels/configurations.

It's pretty much the same discussion as
"Do you like the Ford truck or the Chevy truck?"

Good way to put it.
Re: buckmark 22 vs Ruger 22
i own a browing buckmark and ruger mkiii and i shoot both of them equally well. i think accuracy between the two pistols is to close to call and both have been 100% reliable. anyone in the market for a 22 pistol couldn't go wrong with either the ruger or buckmark and having both would be like having your cake and eating it too.
Re: buckmark 22 vs Ruger 22
I have a Browning Buckmark and it is a dream to shoot. My dad has a used and abused Ruger Mk something that he got for cheap and i hate it. Could be because it is used an abused too, though.
My dad also has a buckmark and loves it.
Re: buckmark 22 vs Ruger 22
I've shot at least 3 different Rugers (I own 2) and they all shoot really nice out of the box. They also have a lot of aftermarket support (Volquartsen) which helped influence my decision.
What I find interesting is that both of my Mark III do not shoot the same despite having all of the same work done to them. I attribute this to the amount of trigger time the Hunter has had versus the relatively new Target model I bought. The Hunter feels better to me.
I can see what there is to dislike about the grip angle of the Ruger. But I have grown to really enjoy it. The Ruger is usually the first pistol I reach for when I go shooting (and not just because it is cheap to shoot).
Don't you have to remove the sight assembly on the Brownings to clean them (as in remove the barrel)? Or did I misread that somewhere? That always made me a bit apprehensive about owning one.
