Another Layer For School Security
I just saw this little device that would work beautifully for schools when there's a breach in security. It's something so simple, yet it looks like it would be very effective. Doors with large windows would have to be replaced, but I think this would be another layer of security for most schools.

I had something similar to that on my double front doors when I lived in NJ these are far from new and at less then $50.00 a pop should be a no brainier regardless if you are in a school or not.
Re: Another Layer For School Security
The economics of fear.
These might make sense in new construction, but it would be cost prohibitive to retrofit existing schools.
Re: Another Layer For School Security
Yeah a couple guys with a drill and a couple of concrete bits would be a monumental undertaking for sure.
It’s a fucking wonder Americans can even get out of bed these days.
Re: Another Layer For School Security
It's no wonder. Everything is marked The State of California has determined that the product in this package contains lead, a known carcinogen, or Do not open. No user-serviceable parts inside, or both.

Fifty bucks a pop, plus installation costs (including profit and overhead) times number if windows and doors times the number of schools comes to a pretty large number, don't you think?

The music alone is enough to deter anyone from even entering the school.

It sounds like Madonna's "Poppa don't preach".
I wouldn't mind something like that for my basement door.

No not when it comes to simple solutions that make a real difference unlike throwing canned food at someone’s head. I guarantee if they involved the community in it you would see a lot of donations of both money and skilled time. Then for many schools across PA there’s those dirty secret surplus funds they don’t like admitting they have which I just found out my kids school system has and it contains $50 million in it yes they were contemplating a tax hike for the $1.2 million they just spent on cleaning up black mold in several of the buildings.
I’m tired of excuses especially when it comes to children and money because it’s bullshit in most cases and if needed it can be easily raised, but in the end no one wants any real solution or changes we just want it to go away so let’s do it by stripping some rights and making it into a political movement.

A few chicken BBQ fundraisers and an installation party and we can cover it at our local school.
Seemed like the appropriate response in the BBQ thread section.
It does look like a great product. Wish I had thought of it first.
