More rounds vs. more power (e.g. 9mm vs. .45)
Yeah, oldest debate in the world, but let's have a go.
My take:
Went shooting at the family farm with my brother.
We went to wally-world and bought a ton of cabbages for targets.
I had a 9mm, he had a .45
With my 9mm, I could take big ol' chunks off the cabbages. They'd look pretty ragged when I was done with 15 rds. magazine. Very unhappy/inoperable 'bad guy'... but still 'intact'.
He could then hit what was left with a single .45 round and they'd just flat-out explode into smithereens.
Debate aside, that's why my daily-carry is now a .45 with 8 rounds vs. a 9mm with 15 rounds.
Just sayin.
Separate note: We also shot rifles vs. the pistols. It only took 2-3 hits of .223 to utterly decimate the cabbages far past what 10+ rounds of 9mm pistol could do. Interesting POV on velocity vs. mass.
Re: More rounds vs. more power (e.g. 9mm vs. .45)
The damage potential only matters if you hit the target.
I'll take more opportunities to hit the target.
Re: More rounds vs. more power (e.g. 9mm vs. .45)
What type of ammo was used? Typical carry ammo or just plain ball?
Re: More rounds vs. more power (e.g. 9mm vs. .45)
If you shot them with a 10mm you would have forgot they were a cabbage.
Sorry. Just had too.
Re: More rounds vs. more power (e.g. 9mm vs. .45)
Pretty sure that's not the right way to make sauerkraut for the new year.
Re: More rounds vs. more power (e.g. 9mm vs. .45)
Cabbages aren’t humans, .45 won’t cause limbs to fall off or heads to explode. The caliber comparison data has been out there for years, Modern 9mm duty ammo is a very efficient man stopper/killer. Vital hits on the intended target matter regardless of the service pistol caliber one chooses to use.

You are no fun. Go threadcrap somewhere else with your dammed logic. ;)

Read your local paper. I would say .22 is regularly used in murders with one shot one kill.

Why not both. I carry an FNX 45 Tactical. 15 rounds of 45 acp.

I saw a gun take down a deer, at night, from a jacked up Ford Bronco, with one shot a .22 magnum...from a fair distance away too.
