Re: Background Check and NJ PTI?
From New Jersey Judiciary: Pre Trial Intervention (PTI):
If a defendant successfully completes all the conditions of PTI, then the original charges are dismissed and there is no record of conviction.
If a defendant does not successfully complete the conditions of PTI, then the defendant is terminated from the PTI program and the case is returned to the trial list.

Re: Background Check and NJ PTI?
I realize this post is very old, however, in the event someone is looking for
guidance I feel I most correct some of the answers given.
NOTE: A person who successfully completes P.T.I. in the State of New Jersey
will have all charges DISMISSED. Only the initial arrest record will remain
stating CASE DISMISSED.
I am not an attorney, I'm a Retired Police Officer from N.J. and know
quite a bit about P.T.I. . After 6 months you can have your arrest record
expunged.
Remember, you did not plead guilty, and the charges were dismissed.as a
result you have no convictions and you can purchase a gun.
Go to any gun store and speak with the owner he will tell you the same thing
and run you through NICS if you wish to buy.

Actually it all turned out fine. I just went down and renewed my ID a few months ago.
I should have thanked folks for the advice a while ago, but I haven't really been on the site much. Things got kind of crazy here with an illness in the family, so that consumed most of my time. Anyway, thanks for the help.
