North Huntingdon Twp. Parks - Preemption Update
I was at Indian Lake park in North Huntingdon Township with the family over the 4th of July weekend and noticed the townships Rules & Regulations prohibited the possession of firearms, etc. within the park, in violation of the UFA.
After privately contacting a member of the Township board (Mr. Anthony Martino), he's been in touch with the township solicitor who is now working on bringing the rules into compliance with the UFA. By end of August new wording should be approved by the board and be in effect very shortly thereafter.
Will post an update once the new rules are approved and displayed at the township parks.

My wife and I are on the board for Twin Lakes dog park when it was being developed. As we were coming up with the rules a couple other members asked about prohibiting guns. The representative from the park confirmed what I had said that they can't ban them as long as the person carrying is in compliance with the state laws as they overrule any county ordinances. The same should apply for township or city ordinances.

Great job! I am a nht resident and have carried there before, oops, guess I didnt see the sign.
Off the wall question, I am attempting to get my FFL for home, and I ma getting some slack from zoning. I am told that I need to pay 300 dollars to get a hearing to beg for a special exemption for home occupancy. Do you know some one to speak to get help? I am no lawyer and dont want to mess up. Also I did a FFL search in nht, and found at least 3 people with ffl in their homes with a north huntingdon address.

I grew up in NHT, but haven't been back in years. Thanks for your work.
Re: North Huntingdon Twp. Parks - Preemption Update
The NH park rules were updated over the winter regarding possession of firearms, but finally got to the park this weekend to check that the posted rules/signs were updated as well. Not a pretty fix as they just painted out the "possession of firearms" with black paint, but it works...

Hey Steve, good job! I had my youngest grandson (3 and a half) at Oak Hollow Park a couple weeks ago. I noticed the sign with the park rules was modified. Where it once read something like "Possession and discharge of firearms is prohibited".
There was a piece of green tape over the word "Possession".
