Re: Carrying permit card?
Some people make a copy and leave the card at home. I think if stopped you may get an understanding officer but I would not bet on it. I carry mine at all times just to avoid potential bullshit.
Re: Carrying permit card?
Why do we need to continue having the same discussion we've been having in the other existing (and current) thread on the exact same topic?

I'm a responsible gun owner officer, really. I'm just not responsible enough to have my LTCF with me. Or my driver's license.

Haha!
I guess one's amount of responsibility depends on who is grading it.
For reason's I don't need to explain to anyone here, I've found myself out and about without either one on a few occasions.
It wasn't intentional, but it happens.

Geez, I hope you don't find yourself in Jersey without your LTCF.

There are legitimate reasons to not carry the actual ltcf with you at all times.

You can't give partial vehicle consent as I sardonically mentioned in my other post. Thus, why would one assume you can give consent to look at only one picture on your phone?
With the advances in technology come new issues. Our procedure right now is that if we believe evidence can be found on a cell phone and we have probable cause, the phone will be confiscated and a search warrant obtained before anything is done to the phone.
If a person gives an officer a phone to show a pic of a DL and the next pic over is something incriminating, that would probably become more of an issue for the person as compared to the incriminating pic being a hundred photos over or in another file.
I have an Allstate App on my phone that will display only ID cards and if one is so inclined there are photo apps that are passcode protected.
The first issue that came up with using cellphones in this manner was one of the phone being dropped and broken. If I remember correctly that was covered in the MVC.

Sure officer, you can see my LTCF, I keep it in my burn box with all of my official government documents, since keeping them in my wallet would be irresponsible, especially since there is no legal means for a replacement LTCF to be issued. DO you want to follow me to my babysitters and then home, or just meet me there in an hour or so.
Getting a security clearance is usually not an everyday occurance, so one wouldn’t be expected to carry all of that documentation everyday.
And if a ride was needed to clear up your LTCF issue, it would probably be in the rear of my car. :p

But can't you view LTCF information on the computer in your car or calling it into dispatch? What's the point of having that information accessible if cops aren't going to use it?
