denied license to carry a firearm
I was denied to carry a firearm by Sheriff Slupe, did a challenge and it came back with a driving under the influence on 04-15-1959. That letter was sent out on May 26 2017 and received on June 2 and they want my response in 30 days. Its says however, I may be eligible for relief from your firearms disability under 18 PA C.S 6105.1. I also have a PICS legal assistant that is hard to reach. Allegheny county court has no record of my arrest in Coraopolis and they want $25 to give me a letter about that. There should be nothing else on my record and I started a Criminal History on the 06-07-2017. I need help.
Thanks in advance
Wally

Lawyer.
That's about all you can do.
You need to appeal within 30 days
Is that right 1959?
So you were denied under the character and reputation clause, or were there other circumstances involved with the DUI?

I knew of a guy that was prohibited for drag racing in the 60s.

Re: denied license to carry a firearm
You have a legal problem. This is not a good place to get legal advice unless a gun lawyer chimes in. I think the advice above to lawyer up is your best bet. You have little time to get the necessaries done, and you don't have the background to know how to proceed efficiently. 30 days is not a long time when it comes to dealing with the gov. A good gun lawyer will know what to do and how to do it. Maybe a lawyer can buy you more time if needed on some legal basis.
I know lawyers are expensive. I had to hire one once and it cost big time for a retired Marine. But it was worth every penny because he did what I needed done. I could never have done it on my own. Many lawyers will work with you in terms of payment on a schedule.
It doesn't cost anything to call a lawyer, and many will give a brief free time to discuss your case. Just don't get the wrong kind of lawyer. You need one experienced in such matters. You can find one through your county bar association.
Good luck.

DUI in 59? damn, one would think in that day in age, one had to be REALLY drunk!
Re: denied license to carry a firearm
If, assuming he was at the legal drinking age of 21 when he got the DUI, he would be around 80 years old now. And brings it up now?

21? More like 18
Re: denied license to carry a firearm
Is it a mistake? Were you convicted of the DUI? Contact a lawyer, WELL VERSED IN GUN LAWS, and file an appeal.
