Concealed Carry Permit Application References (Phila.)
Do they have to live in Philadelphia or can they live anywhere in the state? Is there any other things regarding references that they frown upon that aren't openly stated on the application. I heard that you must know your reference for 3 yrs or longer is this correct?
Re: Concealed Carry Permit Application References (Phila.)
Anywhere in the State I believe.. there isn't a Phila LTCF, its a PA LTCF...
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
And far as references, just ask your good friends or family and give them a heads up before you use them out of courtesy.
Questions are basic:
How long have you know him
Do you feel he is responsible
Have you noticed any depression, anger, mood swings
Does he have a drinking, drug problem
blah blah blah

One of my referees had only known me for a year, it was fine. Mine were both in Philadelphia but that is not required. It just says that on the PPD web page. Just have them write their address and DL # on the forms.

In Philadelphia it's different, you don't just nominate referees, you have to get them to fill out a one-page form about whether they would issue you an LTCF, whether they think you are a US citizen and a couple of other questions.

What you meant to say. ;)
At least, I hope. For York County, only name, address, and phone are asked for.

Well that goes on there too, but it's PA DL # and phone # in Philadelphia.
I should add that neither of my refs were contacted.

According to this, references should be from Philadelphia. It does not say must be. But as you know, the letter of the law is not always followed.

You must have the Reference Questionnaires (2) filled-out by References and returned with your application. References should be Philadelphia residents and not family members.
References must include NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBERS and PA DRIVERS LICENSE NUMBER at the top of form. Failure to do so will result in processing delays and application denial.

Although it's not a matter of being a "stickler" on the reference issue.
The only provision on the approved PSP LTCF application says only that references not be family members. Nothing is mentioned at all about the residency of references.
I know, Philly and other counties add extra requirements and extra papers to fill out...but they are doing that on their own.
