Desert Eagle 50 A/E Question
So finally got to take my new DE 50 to the range today. Every round fired, every spent round ejected, but when the slide returned to battery, it would not pick up a new round on the way :( Did this every time ! I took that mag apart and stretched the spring a little, when I fired again, it actually loaded a second round for the first time, but then back to same issue - never loading a new round. I am using Magnum Research ammo. Is there anything other than weak mag spring that could cause this ? Didn't have a second mag to test. Thanks!
Re: Desert Eagle 50 A/E Question
That is the problem I ran into that prompted me to get rid of my 44 magnum Eagle.I didn't bother with looking into getting the issue straightened out as I bought it as a used gun and didn't expect for the company to cover any repair work.I traded it in for another, more reliable and practical handgun.
Re: Desert Eagle 50 A/E Question
I am no expert on the desert eagle gas system, but I know it uses one. That is where I would look. I would assume the gun was receiving insufficient gas and the slide wasn't traveling far enough rearward to strip a new round. Either this or a magazine issue, as you said.
A third and, I would think, less likely option would be something is out of spec.

When the failure to feed a second round occurred, if you just sling shotted the slide and loaded subsequent rounds with no issue, I suspect this is the issue. Either not enough gas, or not enough lubrication and break in to allow the slide to to full travel. Maybe a combination of all.
Re: Desert Eagle 50 A/E Question
Thanks all. Going to break her down and clean/lube - then stretch the spring a bit. I got the combo with 44 mag barrel and mag so I'll take everything to the range next time and see what happens.
Re: Desert Eagle 50 A/E Question
I never had that problem with mine when I owned it. The only problem I had,
almost every shell would hit my forehead.

Haha I get that with my Glock pretty often.
Re: Desert Eagle 50 A/E Question
Needs cleaned and don't limp wrist it. 44's will do the same.
Re: Desert Eagle 50 A/E Question
After shooting it, I hardly have a wrist left ! Never thought I limp wristed when shooting, but I guess it could be possible with this bear. Thanks

Re: Desert Eagle 50 A/E Question
Luckily mine ejects straight out and to the right never coming anywhere near me. The 50 a/e casing alone would probably kill ya - lol.
