Re: AR Pistol Build for Car Gun
Yes, I forget about the Tailhook all the time because I'm "budget minded".
It was hard enough for me to upgrade to the SBA3. LOL
I already had a buffer tube, and I got the bare SBA3 for $75, so it fit my budget.
I've handled a gun with the Tailhook. Very nice, indeed.
Re: AR Pistol Build for Car Gun
I greatly dislike the MFT Minimalist stocks so the Tailhook/SBA3s aren't my cup of tea. SBA4 is right on for me.
Nice to have options.

Too funny.
I really like MFT Minimalist stocks, so that's why I prefer the SBA3!!!
Re: AR Pistol Build for Car Gun
I went with the AR Pistol chambered in 300AAC with a 8.5" barrel. Good truck gun and wil be a greater one once my tax stamp is approved for my Wolfman Dead Air Silencer. I really wanted to stay with 5.56 but all the research that i have seen shows the 5.56 needs a minimum of 16" because of the powder burn off. The final deal maker was how well the 300AAC performs with a can compared to similar size barrels of 5.56.

I know it’s a slightly older thread, but timing seems appropriate, considering the current state of affairs...
I went 7.5” for my pistol. Partially for maneuverability and portability, and admittedly, partially just because I really dig the look. I know I’m sacrificing ballistics in .223/5.56, but for my purposes, the handiness outweighs any drop in performance. It’s meant for ease of use in doorways, when in the camper, or throwing in one of the vehicles. I’ve got no delusions of it being very effective past 100yds, but that’s not it’s role anyway. I can rotate around in a confined space, and with my long arms 6’2” wingspan) it’s actually a smaller pivot radius than holding a 1911 at arms length.
The best part is, broken down, it’s only 18”, so it’ll fit in a medium sized backpack, making it ultra portable. If I gotta grab the family, and GTFO as discreetly as possible, this will be my go to.

Is that running some sort of flash can?...I went with 10.5 for my SBR(almost always supressed) but it is pretty unbearable without the can....can't imagine even shorter.
Re: AR Pistol Build for Car Gun
Instead of a pistol AR, I consider buying a Mossberg Shockwave.
If you need close up defense from inside or around a vehicle, it is hard to beat 12 gauge 00 buckshot.

just picked up a Komrad 12 for that reason. Its a firearm under the law so it can be loaded in and out of a car.
