Permanent-Resident Firearm Purchase
Hey guys,
Was hoping you could help me out here. I am currently a permanent-resident, have "green card" and would like to purchase a pistol soon. I was wondering if anyone had this experience? Do the same laws and requirements apply to US Citizens and Perm Resident?
I have not seen any language in the PA Laws I have seen regarding this, but wanted to double check if you guys had any tips or anything. Will I need to bring my "green card" to the store for the purchase?
Re: Permanent-Resident Firearm Purchase
you will need three months proof of residency
utility bills with your name and address in PA, other than that, your good to go
Re: Permanent-Resident Firearm Purchase
Thanks for that info! Much appreciated.
Having been here in Pittsburgh since 2000, I dont understand the reasoning behind this, but it is what it is. I feel like I am more American than at least half of the folks born here;I didnt vote any Democrats hahah.
Thanks again.

On what do you base this?
(Sincere question, it's something I don't recall reading about before.)

Actually I was told the same buy a gentlemen at Ace. It struck me as off, so I wanted to confirm here as well.
Re: Permanent-Resident Firearm Purchase
Well, you can always just go to the gun shop, make the purchase, and see what PIC says. Should be interesting.

Q: May aliens legally in the United States buy firearms?
An alien legally in the U.S. may acquire firearms if he has a State of residence. An alien has a State of residence only if he is residing in that State and has resided in a State continuously for at least 90 days prior to the purchase. An alien acquiring firearms from a licensee is required to prove both his identity, by presenting a government-issued photo identification, and his residency with substantiating documentation showing that he has resided in the State continuously for the 90-day period prior to the purchase. Examples of qualifying documentation to prove residency include: utility bills, lease agreements, credit card statements, and pay stubs from the purchaser’s place of employment, if such documents include residential addresses.

Re: Permanent-Resident Firearm Purchase
You don't need the 90 day proof of residence anymore. That requirement was changed. At least that's what I overheard while a gentleman with a green card was buying a gun next to me at Classic Pistol.
