Does anyone know where I can buy pure lead for casting bullets around here? I already called up True Value and Lowes with no luck. Thanks.

Try local scrap yards and plumbers. I doubt you'll need pure lead for bullets - too soft, unless you're casting minie balls. Wheel weights from tire dealers are whats most commonly used.
I have a hundred lbs. of pure lead here, but you're too far away.
Pure lead is for round ball. It is soft enough to scratch with your finger nail.
For bullets you should traditionally use an alloy of tin, antimony and lead.
I the moment I am casting for my muzzleloaders. I have a mold to make conical's and I even want to try to make miniball's by drilling hollows into the base. So I think it will have to be pure lead.
I see some options on ebay, but I was hoping I could pick up locally and avoid shipping costs.
If you try Dixons in Kempton, I pick some up there once in a while.
Thanks. I will give them a call.
You got me thinking so I called my local plumbing supply, Bath Supply Co.
They have 5 lbs pieces for 2.14/pound. It is called caulking lead. I would check a plumbing supply versus a home store. I picked one up and will let you know.
I know you want to go local, but here is 52-55 pounds delivered to your door for under $2 a pound and you know what you're getting (as opposed to scrap or plumbers lead).

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.
You could try checking a local garage/tire shop/dealership to see what they do with old wheel weights. I'm not sure if they would work for what you want to do but it could be an easy (and cheap) local source.
