Drinking my first cup of coffee, then dropping off the MG's at the range for today's MG shooting, and then heading up to PMSC at 8:30 am with cold drinks and a few of my favorites.

I'm up and eating my pre-bacon breakfast.
Half the battle is won.
Mrs EM has placed sticky notes in 3 strategic locations reminding me to take the bacon with me!

Thanks to everybody that showed up. I hope you guys and gals had as much fun as I did. My hat is off to the brave souls who touched off the .505 Gibbs without the muzzle breaks. I told ya it wasn't that bad but I've been known to BS a tad so I understand the caution.
A little history on the .505. It was developed in 1911 by George Gibbs as a stopping caliber for large and dangerous game in Africa. The expensive double barrel rifles were out of most peoples price range and he sought a higher market demand of bolt action rifles. The cartridge dimensions are about the same as the .460 Weatherby but loaded to much lower pressure since cordite, the smokeless powder of the day did unpredictable things in the heat of Africa. In Africa most of the dangerous game is shot in the neighborhood of 20-25 yards. Even today some professional hunters still use the Gibbs as a back up rifle for when the clients screw up and things get nasty. 600 grain solids at 2100 FPS will stop anything on the planet if it is placed well.
I'll try to post some pics in a while.
