There is no reason the state should be involved with them at all. If the local fruit stand wants to sell it, they should be allowed to.

Not a good time for me, I am in Bucks and my LTCF expires at the end of April. I thought I had plenty of time to renew but I didn't know America was going to meltdown in a week! My girlfriend tried to call the Bucks sheriff's office today about her renewal and no one answered........not a good sign! This is making me nervous.
I kind of hate to ask this but what are the laws about carrying with an expired LTCF?

You get 6 months leeway after expiration.

But you may have to go to court and use it as a defense.
I’d be include to swing by the sheriffs house and hand him the application.

Thanks for the info. I would have never thought I would be one day over but this makes me feel a little better. Actually it is the best thing I heard in the last week!
EDIT. And PaMedic. I understand I can still be hassled the second my LTCF expires. Just hope a LEO will also understand the situation too and not hassle me too much. If not I will start a violent coughing fit. Does anyone have the Bucks county sherrifs home address?

You get 6 months as long as you are still eligible to have one.

This is the correct answer. Likely not an issue for most here, but definitely an important factor to note when throwing the "grace period" around publicly.
I'd continue to carry the expired license, to quickly prove the time window if a requirement to produce the LTCF came up.
A printed copy of the licensing statute (which includes the exemption) may or may not be helpful, but having that too won't hurt your case, so I'd stash one in each vehicle since there's really no significant cost to doing it.
