Two people shot in Hazleton
Two men were shot after an apparent altercation in downtown Hazleton early Saturday morning, Hazleton police said.
A 23-year-old from Lattimer Mines and 19-year-old from Hazleton were treated at Hazleton General Hospital for gunshot wounds after the 1:35 a.m. incident in front of FG Cantina on North Wyoming Street between Green and Maple streets, police said.
The 23-year-old, who was shot in the lower abdomen, was then flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown with internal injuries, police said. The 19-year-old was shot in the upper left leg, police said.
One of the men was leaving the bar, while the other was entering, police said. The shots came from an area on the west side of Wyoming Street, closer to Maple Street, police said.
As of Saturday evening, the victims' identities were not available, nor were their conditions.
The investigation continues, police said, and anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to call Hazleton police at 459-4940. All calls will be kept confidential.
