HB 2682 ID to purchase ammo
I think I'd oppose this based on existing law that goes largely unenforced and future amendments. It is already a federal felony for one of the 9 classes of person banned firearms and ammo under GCA '68 to purchase or possess ammo. Also I see no call for background check or record keeping on the part of seller, but that will come later

Re: HB 2684 ID to purchase ammo
There's no way this passes right? Normally I would think this would get quashed with the Republican majority, but with the PFA vote recently I'm not so sure anymore.
Re: HB 2684 ID to purchase ammo
Remember the old days when FFLs had to record ammo buyers?
Re: HB 2684 ID to purchase ammo
Would this make it virtually impossible to buy ammo online without going through an FFL?
Re: HB 2684 ID to purchase ammo
Idiots. In 1970's we had a hit execution style in back of head. The recovered projectile was a Lyman cast lead semi-wadcutter .45ACP. The killer used a reloaded round. It was mob-connected, and the hit-man avoided purchasing ready-made ammo. P.S.- he also left no expended case behind.

From the way it reads no, unlike CA where you have to have any ammunition purchased over the internet transferred through an FFL. This would be like how online retailers treat NJ customers with having to have a copy of the buyers FOID and DL on file. When you buy pistol ammo at Walmart they now check your DL, however that is their policy and not the law of the state, at least not yet.
Re: HB 2684 ID to purchase ammo
Walmart has tried and will probably try again to differentiate between pistol and rifle ammo. In that effort, all they can do is rely on the statement of the purchaser. And how long will it take a fill-in clerk to know all the pistol calibers used in rifles?

As I read HB 2684, it is only effecting the sale of fireworks.

They had to record buyers of handgun ammo who had to be over 21, including all .22 rimfire.
