If you spend any time reading any of Capstick's books about when he was a game warden in Africa, you'll realize that #4 is all he used. He wrote about it in one of his books. His rationale was that you only get 8 or 9 .33 caliber pellets in 00 buck, but you get 21 pellets that are still .24 caliber in #4 buck. More pellets, bigger pattern, and still large enough projectiles to be effective. He trusted it enough that it's what he used when he went into dense brush after injured animals like leopards. That's enough to convince me that it would be good enough for home defense.
unless its some doped up zombie the pain of even 8 or 9 shot at 15ft will stop 90% of attacks, most likely wont be lethal though.
You just never know when a bird is going to get in and attack.
Be prepared.
Well it will certainly drop a bird and drop an assailant but the clean up afterwards and the sheetrock indoors will be extensive !
Bird shot for birds. Buck shot for home and defense purposes. I like #2 Buck for home defense in a city environment and #2 or 00 Buck shot for the rural environment. Since I live in a rural area and my nearest neighbor is 1/2 mile away I use the 00 most of the time
You're welcome.

A coworker had a Turkey fly through his front window. He said his house looked like it was burglarized when he got home.
It was standing on his kitchen table when he spotted it, then it freaked out again and trashed the kitchen.
He hid in his bedroom and called police.
Yes, I still laugh at him.
