Anyplace in south central PA I can shoot my shotgun for familiarization?
Bought my first shotgun, a Stevens 320.
I just want to fire a couple of boxes and place it under my bed.
So I don't want to join another club a single range session.
The public range in Michaux State Forest doesn't allow shotguns.
The private ranges I found not requiring memberships either want only slugs or at least a 22" barrel.
Gettysburg area.

State game range. It's $36/yr, dawn until dusk, come and go as you please.

Don't know about Gettysburg, but in Lancaster, there's the Sportsman Shop in Blue Ball, indoor range, Moor's Outdoors in Willow Street, indoor range, and Trop's Gun Shop near Etown, I have not been there since the moved from their original location. I know that both the Sportsman Shop and Moor's are very nice people and nice ranges.

Indoor ranges that permit shotguns?
Wow. I didn't think that was a possibility and didn't look for such.
thanks.

Are shotguns permitted?
Yes, shotguns are permitted with slugs only. Shotguns must be shot at a minimum distance of 20 yards.

Look for a local range that has public trap shoots. Your score won't matter.

Club dues are often about the same as SGL fees and sometimes have other benefits. For what it's worth

I was thinking of that.
But unsure of looking like an idiot before 5 people as I learn the mechanics and function of a weapon I never used before.

It's a pump shotgun. Don't overthink it too much. :)
You can get 12 ga snap caps to practice with too.
