walmart and K-mart sell them for anywhere from 30-60 bucks. Not Otis, generic ones that come in an aluminum briefcase.

I personally like Kleenbore products.

I got a Remington kit that covers all the guages. It is enclosed in a mat to lay your gun on while you clean. It was only $39 I think. Bass Pro has one in a wood case for about $29. So $139 seems high.

for a rifle's bore, nothing beats a one piece rod, a brush, a jag, montana x-treme bore cleaner, and some patches. Do not try to catch a wiff of the montana x-treme, it feels like someone whacked you in the face with a 2x4. All this fancy cleaning kit stuff is just a sales pitch.
Re: Who would spend this much money on a cleaning kit?
Wipeout and some patches are all you need.
1. Spray a small amount of foam in the breech end and lean in corner.
2. Patch out gunk you never knew was there.
3. Shoot it again.
I dont know how people get patches stuck in the barrel but I digress. If you like the kit than go for it.

The day I trust a boresnake on a 1k weapon is the day I trust Harry Reid with my dog and wallet alone in a hotel room.....:p
Nothing like a good tool to do the job right, and a brass or steel cleaning rod, a jag tip, patches, and a cleaning patch tip is all you need ;)
Lubricant and cleaning slovent of your choice and you are good to go.
Re: Who would spend this much money on a cleaning kit?
One of the main reasons I like this kit is because it comes with the instructional video.
Re: Who would spend this much money on a cleaning kit?
Seems pretty high to me, but I don't have every caliber possible, so I wouldn't be using the entire kit.
I bought one of those all-in-one kits in the little aluminum briefcases, and bought more stuff as I needed them. At this time, the little briefcase is history, and almost everything I have for cleaning fits very nicely into a small toolbox I picked up at Home Despot. I would have preferred a tackle box, but couldn't find one without looking around more. Maybe that will come later, when I outgrow this box.
The only thing that won't fit is the 1-piece rifle cleaning rod.

the otis kit works great on semi -rifles, pump rifles, lever rifles, and revolvers.

For what it's worth, here's mine, and none of those trays are empty...some of the stuff just slid to the back :):

I thought it was pretty crazy that somebody would spend that much on a gun cleaning kit. Does anybody here think that this system is in any way worth that price?
Uncle SAM hands these out to our boys over there. Check out the military section of Otisgun.com
