Of course, this is genius! It’s all about marketing and public relations... they’re positioning themselves for the future. Their government (non-civilian) contracts are their bread and butter anyway, (i.e., zero impact).
Shareholders are happy, including mutual fund managers whose index funds include Colt investments.

The current Army contract is in the form of Foreign Military Sales to several U.S. overseas allies to include Afghanistan, Bahrain, Djibouti, Federated States of Micronesia, Hungary, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Macedonia, Marshall Islands, Palau, St. Vincent and Grenadines, and Tunisia. Only half, we're arming the other half.

Colt has long been in the Pentagon’s Foreign Military Sales pipeline. Earlier this year, the Army expedited delivery of 2,200 M4s under an existing contract from Colt to the military of Senegal prior to deployment of forces from that West African country on a UN-backed peacekeeping mission in war-torn Mali. Senegal paid roughly $1.6 million for the M4s, which replaced older M16s, and troops in the country were trained on the new carbines by a team from the Vermont National Guard.
$1,600,000/2200=$727.27 each/shipped :)

i seem to recall iraq's military folding after we armed them up, having to go back and destroy munitions we left behind for them when they became terrorists.

That is the cycle of history, no doubt.

giving sand terrorists ar platform weapons is almost like a poison pill. they're just going to malfunction when they get dusty.
i wonder if they'll be chambered in russian cals so they're compatible with all their existing stockpile.
